A Bit of a Stretch

2021 Acrylic on canvas 763 × 253 mm (30 × 10 inches) $250

The painting is painted around the edges, fitted with a hanging wire and ready to hang on the wall.

Virtual Graffiti

2022 Acrylic on canvas 405 x 305 mm (16 x 12 inches) $220

This is a painted interpretation of some graffiti that I did in virtual reality one time. I virtually spray-painted a virtual wall, then my mate with the VR sent me a screen shot, and I then did a painting based on that.

The painting is painted around the edges, fitted with a hanging wire and ready to hang on the wall.

Disjointed Worlds

2004 Diptych - acrylic on two canvases. Each one is 455 x 355mm (18 x 14 inches). Combined size 455 x 710mm (18 x 28 inches). $250

An abstract pair of paintings, based on magnified tiny blobs in another painting.

The blobs may look random, but they are precisely measured and painted. The same shapes appear in different places on each painting.

Five Go West & Five Go East

2020 Diptych - acrylic on two canvases. Each one is 400 x 500mm (16 x 20 inches). Combined size 400 x 1000mm (16 x 40 inches). Sold

This pair of paintings is an experimental abstract work involving poured-on blobs overlaid with an imaginary metro system map.

The Big Wind-up

Hawaiian Lava Flow

2018 acrylic on canvas 609 x 1218 mm (24 x 48 inches) sold

This is a new abstract painting that I have completed during this year, and during that time the eruption of lava from Kilauea volcano in Hawaii occurred. I am interested in volcanoes, as my home city of Auckland is volcanic, and I followed that eruption closely on the USGS website. A series of cracks and fissures appeared in the Leilani estates subdivision and eventually one of them known as Fissure Eight erupted huge amounts of lava over a month or two which inundated the Kapoho Bay area, entered the sea and created new land in the southeast corner of Hawaii Island. I was watching a webcam on the USGS website when the main eruption of lava began, and watched as it rapidly expanded, glowing in the night.

This painting involved a pour-on of a liquid yellow and orange paint representing the lava from Fissure Eight in the top left quadrant pouring down towards the bottom right which roughly represents the former Kapoho Bay area. I have never been to Hawaii (yet), but I am fascinated by the volcanic action which occurs there..
