Greetings Earthlings.

I'm Gravity George, a New Zealand artist who is into colour and humour. I was born in Wellington in 1966 at the age of zero. Moved to Auckland at age three. Started drawing with felt pens at age four. Attempted to grow up on the North Shore. Graduated 1988 from University of Auckland with a BA Degree in Political Studies. Since then I have found employment as a graphic designer.

I enjoy art and my ambition is to do more of it. Started painting in London in 1990. I also lived in Tenerife (Canary Islands) 1992, Waiheke Island 1999, and Manchester (England) 2000. Currently based in Auckland, New Zealand.

Exhibitions to date were at: Devonport Wharf 1996, Outreach (now Artstation) 1997, Soliloquy 1998, Mairangi Arts Centre 1998, Town Cafe Bar (Manchester, UK) 2000,
Haven Art (Waipu NZ), as part of group exhibition called Northern Light, January 2007.

My ideas come from travelling, dreams, random inspirations, maps, phone doodles, and friends. I like New Zealand landscapes, beach cricket, live comedy, the Beatles, and toast.
India has been one of my biggest influences. I have been there three times, and been totally freaked out by the place. Kerala, in the south-west, is my favourite state. In particular I like their respect for cattle. India is Space Cow country.

I like to create paintings which are colourful, original, and funny. The challenge is to do something creative, not destructive, that inspires positive reactions. Usually I just suddenly get an idea, and it either makes an interesting composition or not. I try to capture the best picture out of a wild and freaky dream.

Yellow is my favourite colour. It's a fun colour. You never see an angry banana.

I hope you enjoy viewing my art collection. I have over 100 paintings on this site, so make sure you click the NEXT button at the bottom of page 1 - then you can see the rest.

Have a Good One
